  ...Vote of NO Confidence...The Alaska State Hockey Association, a group that represents thousands of the state's hockey players, coaches and officials, "resoundingly, quickly and unanimously" approved a vote of no-confidence in UAA athletic director Steve Cobb, its president said Saturday. In a resolution sent to a range of university and state leaders, the association cited the steady decline of UAA hockey and claimed repeated efforts to reach out to the university's athletic department and hockey coaches have been "systematically met with callous indifference." Read more here: http://www.adn.com/2013/04/20/2873217/state-hockey-association-approves.html#storylink=cpy  A Note from our PresidentCoach Mac Cup Demonstrates True Spirit of HockeyFor years, Reed McDonald and the Eagle River hockey community have been hosting the amazing Coach Mac Cup 3 x 3 Adult Hockey Tournament at the Mac Center. Always a fun filled and competitive event. However, this year's CMC was even more of a special event because, with the leadership of Michael McCurtain and Reed McDonald, and the support of the Eagle River hockey community and the all participates of the CMC, a CMC silent auction was held and raised over $16,00.00 to help one of our own hockey brethren, Robby Warren. The Robby Warren Fundraiser was set up to help Robby, a beloved goalie, who suffered a paralyzing injury. Through the hard work and generosity of the CMC hockey participants, he is now able to afford a specials needs bed to accommodate his new life challenges.
To all involved with this special event - Alaska State Hockey Association extends its sincere gratitude and respect. You have demonstrated through your actions and generosity the embodiment of the spirit of hockey, comradery and community. We bow to your leadership which is an inspiration to all of us in hockey. This fundraiser, and your hard work reminds all of us just what hockey is and continues to be in all of our lives. You make us proud to be tied together through this game we call Hockey. It is so much more than a game.
